As per the AICTE guidelines, given in Approval Process Hand Book – 2012-13, the Electronics and Computer Science subjects were omitted for the purpose of eligibility for admission to engineering courses for the year 2012-13. Now, the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka in WP No. 20890-91 /2012 and 20992/2012, by considering the submissions made by AICTE, New Delhi and VTU, Belgaum that the Electronics and Computer Science subjects are treated as one of the Technical Vocational Subjects and could be treated for eligibility purpose for admission to Engineering Courses, the Hon’ble Court has passed an order dated
04-07-2012 directing Karnataka Examinations Authority to consider Electronics and Computer Science subjects marks for the purpose of eligibility for admission to engineering courses. Accordingly the candidates who have completed the qualifying examination with Electronics / Computer Science as one of the subjects and could not get the eligibility to Engineering course on the basis of marks secured in PCM subjects are now being considered for the purpose of eligibility on the basis of marks secured by them in Electronics / Computer Science and have been assigned Engineering ranks in CET-2012.
